Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford, as well as the world's largest university press. It furthers the University’s objectives in research, scholarship and educational excellence by publishing high-quality publications and dictionaries. Oxford University Press (China) Ltd (OUP China) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oxford University Press.
OUP China works towards fulfilling the educational and scholarly objectives of the University, while developing its publishing business in both Chinese and English. In order to promote quality education and raise the standard of English among students in Hong Kong, OUP China introduced a systematic, comprehensive and integrated English literacy programme from the UK in 2007. Based on synthetic phonics, the programme seamlessly integrates the teaching of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. This encourages young children to develop an interest in reading, while helping them ‘learn to learn’ and master English. |
